Those
Our character is judged by how we treat
not those like us...
but those who are different,
not those with power...
but those without,
not those we enjoy...
but those we despise (or just tolerate),
not those we know...
but those who are strange,
not those who affect us...
but those who never will,
not those who’ll outlive us...
but those we’ll outlive,
not those with much to lose...
but those with little,
not those who can respond...
but those who’re kept mute,
not those with shared interests...
but those with their own,
not those with whom we’re comfortable...
but those who make us squirm,
not those who have witness...
but those who are alone,
not those versus whom it’s difficult...
but those versus whom it’s easy,
not those who represent others...
but those who’re just themselves, and
not those we can see, hear, feel, and smell...
but those we can’t perceive.
